Valencia Trip - May 25th

Friday was the very last day (of our trip). We went to Spider park for the last time. We chased birds and climed on the webs while Linnea played in the sand. Then it was lunch so we went to a sidewalk cafe and had sandwiches and Fanta Limon. Then we went to el corte ingles (shopping center) and did some shopping. Then we went back to the apartment and watched a movie.

Valencia Trip - May 24th

Today we woke up and ate breakfast. After, we went to "el mercado redondo" (the round market) and bought souvenirs. Then we went for a walk and went home for lunch and a nap.

After we woke up we went to Linnea's park and played for a little. We chased the pidgeons - they got so scared the flew away and came back.

Then we went over to a big fountain and played with the water. Then we went back to the apartment and played on the computer. We ate dinner and went to bed.

Valencia Trip - May 22nd

Today we went to the zoo (Jardin Zoologico de Valencia). I saw animals this close (they had the animals behind glass so you could come right up to them)! They had a camel, lions, a rhino, hippos, orangutan, monkeys, tucans, donkeys and ostrich. The orangutan's name was "Boris" and was so hairy Boris looked like a rag.

The lions were roaring too. We also went to different parks when we went back home. We ate lunch and played computer games till bed. Amanda and Tia Sonia left for Canada the next morning.

Valencia Trip - May 21st

Today we are going to the port. That's where the 32nd America's Cup is (being held). They had different tents and parks and one park was really cool - it was a rope that had a long way to go it was so fast.

In the morning I sailed a race boat (sail-kart) and raced too.

For lunch I had a breaded pork cutlet with fries. Then we went shopping.

Valencia Trip - May 20th

On Sunday we went to the country where I played soccer and found snails. There was a really big one, it was the size of a little stone. Emilio found bicycles in the shed, they were broken but it still worked. But beside the shed it was a toy graveyard. They had dolls, cars, stuffy's, a rocking horse and one doll had no head. We also had a paella (Spanish rice) with lots of family. I had fun with the kids!

Valencia Trip - May 19th

Today we got up and stayed at the apartment. In the afternoon we went to Cheste. We went to a big restaurant with a LOT OF FAMILY. Me, my mom, Amanda, Linnea, Tia Sonia and Lucas went back really early and went for a walk to have a lemon slurpy (limon granizado).

Valencia Trip - May 18th

Today we're going back to Valencia. We packed our suitcases and we took the taxi to the train station but missed the train, so we got there later than we expected. When we got to the apartment we ate dinner and went to bed.

Valencia Trip - May 17th

Thursday we ate breakfast and went on a little train. It showed us lots of Peñiscola. When we got off the train we went shopping. We walked back to the hotel to have lunch. After that we went to the beach - me and my dad made a sandcastle. It was pretty.

Valencia Trip - May 16th

Today we got up and we walked on the beach and my mom went shopping. We didn't do much but we collected shells along the beach. We went to the hotel and went to the arcade. Amanda whooped me at air hockey.

Valencia Trip - May 15th

We woke up and went town for breakfast, then we walked to an old castle. It took a long time to get there. When we got there, the whole village was inside the castle walls! But the churchbells were loud!


I got a new pirate t-shirt. We went and saw a garden with lots of birds (birds of prey that they keep for falconry). They were big! On our way to the hotel again we saw a sand dragon with fire coming out of his nose.

Valencia Trip - May 14th

This morning we went on a train to Peñiscola (pronounced Pen-yis-co-la). We took 2 taxis to the hotel and we took our stuff to our rooms. We got in our swim stuff and went to the beach, but before we had lunch. We got a new friend, he's the chef. His name is Gabriel.

Valencia Trip - May 13th

Today I went to my Dad's cousin Paco's house and I saw a small snail and it crawled on me. They had a pool but it was being cleaned so we couldn't swim in it. They had a dog a big german shepherd. We saw lots of relatives. I saw a lemon growing on a tree - I got to take it back with me.



Tomorrow we're going to take a train to the beach and stay there for a few days.

Valencia Trip - May 12th

Today we went to Emilio's house in Cheste, that's where my Dad was born. We took the train from Valencia to Cheste. We met Emilio's two daughters Maria Pilar and her husband Manolo and Maria Jose (single). We had brunch there - there was lots of food. They gave us presents. I got a watch, a necklace and bracelet. Lucas got a soccer outfit from a team in Valencia. We visited for a while then Emilio and Ma. Jose drove us to see one of my Yaya's (grandmothers) cousins nearby before we took the train back to Valencia. It was a really hot day.




When we got back we relaxed and got ready for a birthday party. My Dad's aunt Amparo turned 90 yesterday and they were throwing a big party for her at a restaurant. Dinner was really late (9:30pm, early for over here actually). Our cousins from Linnea's birthday party were there too and we all sat at the same table. They were tired and were being bad (running around, not sitting still), so they went home. My Dad said we were tired too and wanted us to go back to the apartment. We went back with Amanda in a taxi, it was really late (11:30pm), but my parents stayed behind. It was kind of cool though because there were singers and guitar players that came and sang and played for aunt Amparo. We got ice cream before we went back to the apartment.

Valencia Trip - May 11th

Today we went shopping to a big shopping mall grocery store. Its the old kind in the middle of the city (el Mercado Central). All the meats were hung up and there were lots of booths with people selling foods, fruits, meats and fish. Some of the fish were still breathing (yuk!). It was smelly and I didn't like it. After that we went out for a small lunch at a place on the street (sidewalk cafe). I had a drink like a Slurpee (granulizado de limon). After that we went to the apartment and rested.

Valencia Trip - May 10th

Today we went to the science center and the "L'oceanografic" (which is a marine park like Sea World). There were stingrays, fish, sharks, turles, dolphins, starfish, crabs, lobsters, penguins, walrus, seals, baby belugas and lots of other stuff (l'oceanografic is organized by climate - temperate, mediterranean, arctic, etc).


Later we went to "La ciudad de arte y ciencias" (City of Arts and Sciences; very much like Calgary's Science Center). In the science center they had lots of cool stuff like how far you can jump and a sand art wheel that spun around and you put sand on it then use a paintsbruch and make a picture (pattern) of lines. We saw a beautiful blue pool, so still. We also got to go to the giftshop and got t-shirts. Then we went home.

Valencia Trip - May 9th

I slept in and ten we went for a walk and came back. We ate lunch and I played on the computer and plated my Nintendo DS. Linnea had a shower before birthday party (Linnea celebrated her 2nd birthday on May 9th in Valencia spain).

We went to some cousin's house (they live on the 6th floor of the apartment building we're staying in) where we held a small party for Linnea, ate dinner, then we went back to the apartment and went to bed.

Valencia Trip - May 8th

Today we went for a long walk with Emilio (my Dad's cousin) to Gulliver Park. Its a large park in the shape of Gulliver from Gulliver's Travels. Gulliver is tied down by the lilliputians and there are slides and stairs and stuff all through his hair, belt and sleeves. Then we ate lunch and played around. We watched a movie and then played darts. Me and my dad went shopping and then I played with Linnea. I gave her a sticker tatoo and we ate dinner and were waiting for Amanda and Auntie Sonia to come (they were joining us in Valencia from Calgary too). Me and Lucas wrestled while Linnea watched Dora. Me and my Mom opened a door in my room (that I thought was a door to another room), but it was just a closet - too bad.

A while after, Amanda and Tia Sonia got here and talked and went to bed (it was late)!

Valencia Trip - May 7th

Me and Lucas and Linnea played and our parents came back from shopping and we still played. We ate dinner and then I drew a picture. Lucas had to go to bed. Then we all went to bed.

Valencia Trip - May 6th

We flew to Spain on May 5th and got there late on May 6th. On the first day we went shopping and came back to the apartment after a while. There was a fire at the apartment! On a different floor (ed...but everything was fine).

Then we ate lunch after we sat around. My dad said we're going out for a walk. We shopped and went to the "spider" park like with webs all over (ed..see pictures below)
